Bank of America was cool enough to tell me that “some information from certain Bank of America Check Cards may have been compromised” and sent me a new card. I have three problems with this:
1) They’re a bank. Not compromising information is kind of their job.
2) Being all obscure about explaining what happened makes it sound a lot worse than it probably is.
3) I have 3 accounts with BoA, but of course they didn’t mention WHICH account the new card is for, so one of my cards will just randomly stop working this week along with all the reoccurring payments.
BoA is terrible. About 5 months ago they randomly decided to cut off my credit card, which was fun because I realized I didn’t actually have any money, and no longer did I have a way to pay for anything. I called and they said they’d let my old one continue working for 5 days, so I wouldn’t be homeless, and shortly send me a new one.
Well, that never happened … or it did happen and I just get so much damned junk mail from them I accidentally threw out the new card. Either way, I’m much better off now without even the option of pulling fake month out of thin air. (the fed could learn a lesson on that one)
