Adorable.

It is so weird to me that all of the internet video celebrities that i discovered over the last couple of years for totally different reasons, are all connected to each other. i found vimeo cause of dave seger a long time ago but i never really got into till a couple months ago, when i saw jacobs vidblogs, meanwhile i found indy mogul on youtube when it was featured on the guru page, and now i start to find out that you are all friends and have been for years… its like you guys own the internet! i pray some day my life is as exciting.

Great comment on one of my old vidblogs.

It’s true, I feel the people who had the pluck to put video on the internet back when it wasn’t easy set a foundation for themselves.

The community was small enough that we all found each other, and now have ‘grown up’ to do big things. It’s such an exciting time!

Live Lip Dub: Apes & Androids concert on Vimeo

This song has been in my head all day. Also, I make a cameo in the background.

” I have been a nature photographer for 20 years. I have photographed thousands of Great Blue Herons and have never seen this kind of behavior from any bird like this. This bird displayed like this for about 20 minutes and made a sound like a baby crying. It saw me and went to a normal folding of the wings and flew off.”
I think he was telling everyone to ‘suck it.’

President Bush’s Response to the State of the Union Speech

A bit dated, but had some great parts that made me laugh.

My phone is gone.

Yeah. Damn slippery pants made it go away in a cab. And then I think the stupid battery died. So it’s gone. Sorry you won’t be able to get ahold of me for a while. Besides the internets.

The bottom photo is of me taken 50 years later, also working as a graphic designer in NYC. Thanks to Justin Ouellette for taking this photo for me. He is an amazing photographer I was privileged to work with David at CV. He is the designer for Busted Tees; you’ve seen his work.
I love generational stuff like this.

sharingtime:

After reading Jessica’s post, I watched an awful 60 Minutes piece on Millenials (what they’re calling people our age these days). Apparently, we’re spoiled “narcissistic praise hounds” because we don’t subscribe to the exact same ideals our parents did when it comes to work and lifestyle.

The part that made me laugh the most was Morley Safer’s face when he questioned the audacity of our generation to put our own well being above that of the company we work for.

Mr. Safer, if I may, sir? Fuck your corporate jobs. I don’t give a fuck about them and they certainly don’t give a fuck about me. We’ve watched companies lay off hardworking people who for 30 years repeatedly sacrificed for their company, only to be laid off right before they’re eligible for a pension.

I’ll be avoiding that fate, thank you very much.

The huge gap in the reasoning of this segment is that if this concept of a workplace was a faulty one, then the businesses that ‘have fun’ (Google, Facebook, College Humor, Zappos, etc) would be failing.

Fact of the matter is, those people are working much harder and their passion for what they do shines through much more than a 9-5 in some heartless cold corporate hell-pit. Sure there are moments of inane goofiness, but there’s also a balance with when they’re actually doing work. Hell, you wouldn’t want to get fired for slacking off and doing nothing if there was free food and parades everyday!

It really all boils down to old people being jealous that they didn’t have the guts to do what they really wanted to do when they were young, or the self-respect to turn down demeaning themselves for be-suit’ed overlords.

Those who finally make it to the top get the chance to realize it’s all meaningless crap and they’ve forgotten those friends and family in order to chop and bludgeon their way to the top of the ladder.

Last night was my first NYC birthday celebration and wow, it was a stunning combo of drop dead gorgeous weather and some of my favorite people.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came out. I was stumbling around all day with the biggest grin plastered to my face just recounting all the little moments of chaos and joy. I’m overwhelmed by the dumb luck I’ve had meeting and spending time with all of you.
You make me feel so goddamn lucky. Thank you again, everyone, for making my 26th spectacular.
