“You’re gonna charge $400 for that? Aren’t you from India? What’re you going to do with $400?!” —

Best new Tumblr I’ve found in a while. Particularly heartbreaking for anyone who’s had to work freelance before.

nostrich:

So. Original plan: collect some data, make a totally sweet-ass visualization of it, print it, frame it, give it to Heather on our wedding day. Nice, right?
As ever, it didn’t quite work out.
For one: Illustrator is really hard. This looks nothing like it does in my head. Had to make a lot of compromises. Two: I didn’t finish it in time. Partially related to the previous point, partially related to me not having this idea far enough in advance (about 3 days). Three: No privacy while Heather is at home! And she took a day off work during those 3 days! Making my deadline effectively 2 days! Having never even used Illustrator! Without even owning a copy of Illustrator!
So. Yeah.
Regardless, I kind of like how it turned out. I had a much better idea in mind (two, actually) for the timeline portion, but I wasn’t able to get a good enough grasp on Illustrator to make it happen (see point one).
Now I have a year before our first anniversary to get better at Illustrator and make a way better version depicting our first year together.
Click to see it big, by the way.

You best believe he’s not going to forget what day their anniversary is with this kind of attention to detail.

I did a fun interview with NewTeeVee earlier this afternoon about how the whole proposal went down.
Yes, I was in the room with her at the time, it wasn’t just an “internet-only” thing. Read all the lovey-dovey, dramatic details here. (thanks newteevee!)

This just got REAL guys.

This just got REAL guys.

Zach pointed out, that Marissa and I met originally on the collegehumor social network Campus Hook, after a silly CH post I did about me dying my hair different colors. Those guys were a big part of me finding the girl of my dreams too. Thank you everyone!
